The WACKEN district
Bordered by the Ill River to the east, Avenue Herrenschmidt to the west and Place de Bordeaux to the south, and crossed by the Aar River and the Marne-Rhine Canal, the name Wacken derives from the dialect word "Wacke" meaning cobblestone, as it is located on the site of ancient Rhine riverbeds that have carried numerous pebbles, gravels and cobbles over several millennia...
Indissociable from the European institutions, the headquarters of the Grand Est region and Strasbourg's events infrastructure, the Wacken district underwent a profound transformation in 2018, which continues to shape its new face.
Like two flagship buildings, the Crédit Mutuel headquarters on one side and the Puma headquarters on the other are the new landmarks of the Archipel district, a harmonious blend of tertiary activities, housing and local shops, bordered by two streetcar lines and direct access to motorways.
The diversity of its hospitality solutions means that it can meet every need and configuration: from the private areas of the European Parliament available to associations, to the 1,000 m2 of fully modular space at the imposing Maillon, which offers limitless creativity! The neighboring Rhenus Sport, home to SIG Strasbourg, also offers a unique combination of space rental and sports team-building activities.
Since December 2022, the AC Hôtel by Marriott has offered some 170 rooms, complemented by 80 studios and suites from the Résidence Inn by Marriott Strasbourg, as well as a 170m2 seminar space, a restaurant and an exclusive Sky Bar, all overlooking the Cathedral's bell tower and the city's 360° skyline!
Just a stone's throw away, the emblematic Hilton, with its 245 rooms and 16 halls capable of accommodating up to 600 people in cocktail configuration, adjoins the new Parc Expo, sublimated by Kengo Kuma's design, and the Palais de la Musique et des Congrès, renovated and expanded in 2016, an exclusive 70,000m2 event complex managed by Strasbourg Events.
